FLORENCE, Ala.
-- Montevallo's Kami Kapaku scored three
goals and Stacey Balaam added two goals and
two assists as the Falcons picked up a 7-1
Gulf South Conference women's soccer victory
over North Alabama Sunday at North Florence
Park.
UNA, 7-10-1
overall and 1-6-1 in the GSC, trailed 2-0
early but got a goal from Paige Hess at the
34 minute mark to make it 2-1. That would be
all the offense the Lions could muster as
Montevallo added five more goals on the way
to the win. Montevallo improved to 11-6
overall and 6-1 in the GSC.
UNA was
out-shot 28-15 in the game and Lion
goalkeeper Carly Rhodes had seven saves.
Kapatku scored
the first goal just 8:13 into the game off
an assist from Balaam. Eight minutes later,
at 16:33, Paula Radmard scored off an assist
from Natalir Martineau to make it 2-0.
Tassia Augusto assited Hess on her goal to
cut the Falcons lead to 2-1. It was Hess'
fourth goal of the season and the eighth
assist for Augusto.
Kapatku scored
five minutes later, at 39:14, off another
assist from Balaam to make it 3-1 at the
half.
The second half
was all Montevallo as Kapatku scored her
third goal off an assist from Radmard at
51:42.
Balaam then
scored goals in the 53rd and 67th minutes
and Adele Jackson scored at 79:08.
UNA hosts
Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
and will close its season at home on October
30 against Austin Peay.
