LIONS COME UP SHORT IN SOCCER FINALE

FLORENCE -- Austin Peay State scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to play to hand North Alabama a 3-1 loss in the Lions' 2007 women's soccer finale.

The Lady Governors scored with just 1:03 left in the first half to break a scoreless tie. UNA tied the game at 1-1 at the 49:50 mark on a goal by Tassia Augusto, off an assist from Kelli Coffman.

The next 31 minutes were scoreless until Jessica Hosse netted a goal off an assist from Carley Newman to give APSU a 2-1 advantage. A goal by Ashley Beck with just 2:41 left in the game made the final count 3-1.

Austin Peay outshot UNA 24-21. Carl Rhodes had seven saves for UNA.

Augusto finished the season with a school record 17 goals.
