FLORENCE
-- Hayley Ferrell scored three
goals as Georgia College and State
University built a 4-0 lead and held off
North Alabama in the second half in a 4-1
win over the Lions in women's soccer.
UNA, now 3-2,
fell behind 3-0 in the first half and the
Lady Bobcats pushed the advantage to 4-0
less than four minutes into the second
period.
The Lions had
opportunities down the stretch but Tassia
Augusto's penalty kick was deflected away
from the goal by Mary Rob Plunkett, and a
penalty kick by Claire Bennett went wide
left.
The Lions lone
goal came from Augusto off a throw-in by
Kelli Coffman at 63:21.
Ferrell got the
game's first goal at 6:24 off an assist from
Beth Coughlin. Ferrell netted her second
goal at 20:33 when Jamie Nevin headed a ball
forward and Kelli McLane passed it inside.
Nevin got the
third goal on a break-away and worked her
way past UNA's Carly Rhodes for the goal.
Morgan Cobb assisted and it was 3-0 at
35:25.
Erika Kolondin
assisted on Ferrell's final goal at 48:22.
UNA was outshot
21-10 in the game.

Georgia on Friday at North Florence Park.
