SEARCY, Ark.
-- University of North Alabama
women's soccer coach Graham
Winkworth called it one of his
team's most complete
performances of the season
Friday as the Lions picked up a
3-0 Gulf South Conference win on
the road over Harding.
It was the eighth straight win
for the Lions who are now 14-1-1
overall and 5-0 in the GSC. The
14 overall wins and five league
wins both extend school records
already set this season. The
shutout was UNA's eighth of the
season, extending that school
record as well.
Freshman Chloe Roberts scored
two unassisted first half goals
to give UNA a 2-0 lead at
intermission. The goals push her
season total to 25. Julia Osmond
then scored her third goal of
the season in the 68th minute
off an assist from Nikki Brown.
It was Brown's 13th assist of
the season.
UNA out-shot Harding 16-9 and
North Alabama goalkeeper Alex
McLay had four saves in getting
her sixth shutout in goal.
UNA, ranked 24th in the NCAA
Division II, will have a week
off before playing the biggest
match in the 13-year history of
its soccer program on October 23
when the Lions travel to
Pensacola, Fla., to take on
second ranked West Florida.
