Year never materialized for the
University of North Alabama
Friday night as the Lions fell
to West Florida 4-0.
In a game that pitted 15-0 and
No. 1 ranked West Florida
against the 14-1-1 and No. 23
ranked North Alabama, the
Argonauts scored in the eighth
minute and rolled to a 3-0 lead
at intermission. West Florida
added an insurance goal in the
second half for the 4-0 win.
The loss, which snapped an
eight-match winning streak for
UNA, drops the Lions to 6-1 in
the GSC. West Florida is now 7-0
in league play.
UNA was out-shot 21-3 in the
game and the Lions' goalkeeper
had seven saves.
West Florida got two goals from
Shakira Duncan and one each from
Shameka and Shaneka Gordon.
It was UNA's first loss since
Sept. 11 when the Lions lost 1-0
at Newberry.
