-- The University of North
Alabama women's soccer team
rebounded quickly from its first
loss since September with a
solid 10-0 win over Lambuth at
the UNA Soccer Field Sunday. UNA
built a 3-0 lead in the first
half and then added seven goals
over the final 45 minutes to
complete the rout.
The Lions are now 15-2-1 overall
and recorded their ninth
straight home win of the season.
Lambtuh falls to 4-10.
Leading the attack for UNA was
senior Tassia Augusto,
who scored four goals in the
game to push her season total to
22. Sophomore Stephanie Bradshaw
scored three goals, all off
corner kicks in the second half.
Jamie Takala, Nikki Brown and
Chloe Roberts all added one goal
each.
UNA's first goal came at the
11:36 mark as Augusto scored off
an assist from Hollie Loud. At
27:33 Jamie Takala scored
unassisted to make it 2-0.
Augusto scored her second goal
of the day at the 33:58 mark as
Danielle Vaughn flipped the ball
forward to Jamie Takala, who
crossed it perfectly to open up
Augusto for the shot.
In the second half Brown scored
unassisted in the 63rd minute to
push UNA's advantage to 4-0.
Roberts scored her 26th goal of
the season at 65:54, off an
assist from Brown, to make it
5-0. The assist was Brown's 14th
of the season, as she continues
to lead the NCAA Division II.
At 70:33, Augusto netted her
third goal off an assist from
Roberts. She then scored
unassisted in the 78th minute to
make it 7-0.
The final three goals of the day
all came off corner kicks as
Roberts connected three straight
times with Stephanie Bradshaw.
Bradshaw headed the first one
into the goal in the 82nd
minute, then fired in the last
two in 85th and 89th minutes.
UNA hosts Delta State Wednesday
at 7 p.m. in its regular season
home finale.
