OWENSBORO, Ky.
-- The University of North
Alabama built a 3-0 lead by
intermission and held on for
a 3-1 soccer win at Kentucky
Wesleyan Friday. The Lions
now 17-2-1, got goals from
Chloe Roberts and Jo Chubb
and an own-goal from
Kentucky Wesleyan. The Lions
then returned the favor,
scoring an own-goal for the
Panthers in the 50th minute.
UNA got on the board at 7:22
when Roberts scored her 29th
goal of the season off an
assist from Kelli Coffman.
Chubb then scored in the
26th minute off an assist
from Nikki Brown.
Chubb was then credited with
an assist when KWC played
the ball she had sent into
the box, into the net. UNA
then netted a goal for the
Panthers to make the final
count 3-1.
"We din't play that well
today, but I'm proud of our
players for hanging in there
and getting their 17th win,"
said UNA head coach Graham
Winkworth. "Now we have to
turn our attention to the
Gulf South Conference
Tournament coming on
Friday."
The Lions will face
Alabama-Huntsville in
Pensacola on Friday (Nov. 6)
in the semifinals of the
four-team event. UNA
defeated UAH 2-0 earlier
this season.
