forward Tassia Augusto of Sao Paulo,
Brazil has been selected for the 2009
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
IV women's soccer team.
As a first-team Academic All-District
pick, Augusto will now advance to the
ballot for possible selection to the
Academic All-America team. Both teams
are selected by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A two-time Academic All-Gulf South
Conference selection, Augusto has
maintained a 3.67 cumulative grade point
average (4.0 scale) in Health, Physical
Education and Recreation.
This season Augusto has scored 26 goals
and added five assists, while helping
lead UNA to a stellar 17-2-1 record. Her
61 career gols shattered the previous
UNA record, as did her 141 career total
points.
Augusto becomes the fourth UNA soccer
player to earn Academic All-District
honors.
The Lions will face Alabama-Huntsville
Friday in the semifinals of the Gulf
South Conference women's soccer
tournament.
