-- Coming off the most successful season in
the history of the University of North
Alabama women's soccer program, the Lions
rank prominently in the final NCAA Division
II statistics released this week.
As a team the Lions ranked second nationally
in scoring with an average of 4.0 goals per
match. UNA was second only to Gulf South
Conference and South Regional Champion West
Florida at 5.04. UNA's 19-4-1 record ranked
13th nationally for best won-loss percentage
at 81.3.
UNA freshman sensation Chloe Roberts of
Plymouth, England, ranked as the fourth
leading scorer in the nation with a 1.33
average. North Alabama senior Tassia Augusto
was close behind at sixth nationally with a
1.208 average. Roberts scored a
school-record 32 goals in 2009 to lead UNA,
while Augusto added 29.
Roberts ranked third nationally in points
per game at 3.29 and Augusto was eighth at
2.67. Roberts had 15 assists and 79 total
points, while Augusto had six assists and 64
total points.
UNA freshman Nikki Brown of Bognor Regis,
England, ranked third nationally in assists
with 16 and a 0.73 average. Roberts was
eighth nationally in assists with a 0.63
average.
The rankings are the highest in school
history in each category.
