SAN ANGELO, Texas -- A pair of University of North Alabama freshmen became the first All-American selections in the program's 12-year history Wednesday when they were named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer All-America Teams.

UNA forward Chloe Roberts of Plymouth, England and midfielder Nikki Brown of Bognor Regis, England, were named second-team All-Americans by Daktronics. The duo helped lead UNA to a stellar 19-4-1 record that included the school's first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Roberts, a first-team All-Gulf South Conference and All-South Region pick, set a UNA record and ranks among the Division II national leaders with 32 goals scored in 2009. She also added 15 assists. Brown, also an All- GSC and all-region pick, led the team with 16 assists and ranked among the Division II leaders. She also scored two goals for the Lions.

Sports information directors from NCAA D-II schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the fourth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA D-II Women’s Soccer All-America and all-region teams. A total of 39 student-athletes representing 23 different institutions filled out the three teams.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The online nomination and voting processes are powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM.
