FLORENCE -- University of North Alabama women's soccer coach Graham Winkworth has released his 2008 schedule that includes 10 home dates, eight Gulf South Conference battles and three games against Sunshine State Conference powers.

Winkworth, who will be in his sixth season at UNA in the Fall, will be trying to lead the Lions to a rebound from last season's 7-12-1 campaign.

UNA will open its 2008 season at home against Cumberland on August 29.

The Lions' list of non-conference opponents will also include North Georgia, Kentucky Wesleyan, Eckerd, Lynn, Florida Tech, Georgia Southwestern, Alabama State, Southern Indiana, Georgia College & State, Crichton and Shorter.

FLORENCE – The Lion Soccer team evened its record to 3-3 with a 3-2 double overtime loss to North Georgia at North Florence Park.  UNA carried a 2-0 lead at intermission.  Natalie Sherk scored UNA's first goal at 6:50 in the game.  Tassia Augusto made it 2-0 at the 33:23 mark.

FLORENCE, Ala. -- West Florida scored two first half goals and added another in the closing minutes as the Lady Argonauts downed North Alabama 3-0 in Gulf South Conference soccer action.

  MONTEVALLO DOWNS LIONS 3-0
 

MONTEVALLO -- Montevallo scored two first half goals and added another in the closing minutes to down the North Alabama women's soccer team 3-0 Sunday. The loss drops UNA to 4-9-2 overall, while Montevallo improved to 6-7-1.  UNA was out-shot 16-10 in the game. UNA goalkeeper Mally Cash recorded two saves.  Paula Radmard scored the first goal at 19:26 of the first half and T.J. Spackman scored at 29:34 to make it 2-0. Radmard then added the final goal in the 83rd minute.

  SOCCER TEAM EARNS TIE AT SHORTER
 

ROME, Ga. -- A second half goal by senior Rhiannon Harrison earned the University of North Alabama women's soccer team a 1-1 tie with Shorter College Wednesday. The tie snapped a two-game losing skid for UNA but the Lions' continued to struggle offensively.

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- After a 3-0-1 start, the University of North Alabama women's soccer team suffered its fourth straight loss Sunday as the Lions were shutout in a 1-0 loss at Delta State.  UNA, now 3-4-1 overall, are now 0-2 in Gulf South Conference play. Delta State improved to 4-7 and 1-1.

  LIONS FALL IN GSC SOCCER OPENER
  HUNTSVILLE -- Alabama-Huntsville scored three goals in the first 25 minutes of the match and held on for a 3-1 women's soccer victory over North Alabama in the Lions' Gulf South Conference opener. The Lions, now 3-3-1 overall, gave up a goal to Casy Alosi just five and a half minutes into the game. The Chargers then added goals at the 22:46 and 24:57 marks to make it 3-0.

  CARROLLTON, Ga. -- North Alabama held a 1-0 lead at intermission but ended up on the short end of a 3-1 final decision to West Georgia in a non-conference women's soccer game Sunday.  Freshman Paige Hess took a pass from Rhiannon Harrison at the end of the first half to put UNA on top 1-0.
  LIONS LOSE TO THIRD RANKED SAINT LEO 1-0
  MONTEVALLO, Ala. -- North Alabama gave up just one first half goal but it was enough for Saint Leo to hold off the Lions for a 1-0 win over UNA in a matchup of two of the top ranked South Region women's soccer teams.

  MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- The University of North Alabama women's soccer team recorded a shutout on its way to a season-opening 1-0 win over Brewton-Parker College. Freshman Meghan Bailey of Madison scored UNA's only goal of the match in the second half off an assist from Rhiannon Harrison and Alison Woodman.  The Lions play at North Georgia on Monday.
