UNA 2005: Liddy was named
first team All-South Region for the first time in her career and
earned a second consecutive first team All-Gulf South Conference
recognition after a stellar year on offense and defense for the
Lions. The catcher hit .324 on the season and led the team in
several offensive categories. In 2005, she recorded team highs in
doubles (13), home runs (15), RBI (49), total bases (115),
slugging percentage (.653) multiple-hit games (18) and
multiple-RBI games (15). She added 37 runs and 57 hits in 176
at-bats while starting all 56 games for UNA. Her break-out
performance at the plate also earned her several spots in the UNA
record books. The 15 homers is the most in a single season since
Hand hit 10 in 2004. The 13 doubles tied Jill James’s 2000
performance for most in a season. The RBI total also bested James’
46 RBI in 2000, while a two-RBI performance on April 5th gave her
the career record with 79 at the time. She finished the season
with 82 career runs batted in. She hit the team's only grand slam
of the season on April 10th during a 13-5 win over West Georgia
the day after hitting a walk-off homer in the bottom of the
seventh inning to beat the Braves 5-3. She added another walk-off
home run on May 6th to top Henderson State 9-1 in six innings.
Defensively, Liddy was the only starter to record a perfect
fielding percentage. She recorded 101 putouts and 108 assists.
UNA 2004:
Liddy started all 52 games for the Lions in 2004. She
led the team in several offensive categories, including batting
average (.331), doubles (10), walks (21), RBI's (33) and on-base
percentage (.424). She was named first-team All-Gulf South
Conference East Division. She had five RBI and scored four runs on
February 10 against Clark-Atlanta. She went 3-for-4 with a home
run on April 2 against Arkansas Tech.
HIGH
SCHOOL: She played catcher for Jupiter High School
under coach Rick Williams. She helped lead the 4A Warriors to
three consecutive district championships. Liddy was first-team
all-conference from 2000-2003, Rookie of the Year in 2000 and was
inducted into the school's Wall of Fame in 2003. She was a
first-team all-area pick in 2000 and 2003, second-team all-state
in 2003 and was the team MVP in 2000, 2002 and 2003. Liddy was
also a News Channel 12 athlete of the week in 2003. She was
powerlifting MVP in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 and was a first-team
all-area powerlifter in 2000 and 2003. Holds the all-time school
batting average record at .455 which she set in 2003. Also
lettered in golf in 2001 and 2002 and lettered in basketball in
2001 and 2002. She was a member of the Social Studies Honor
Society and a member of the FHSAA Athlete/Academic Honor Roll.
PERSONAL:
Full name is Jessica Anne Liddy. Born on February 13,
1985. She is the daughter of Bill and Charlene Liddy. She has one
brother, Joe, and is majoring in Physical Education at UNA.
