UNA 2005: Hand received a pair
postseason honors after a solid performance in all 56 games for
the Lions. Aside from earning a second-team All-South Region nod,
she was also named first-team All-Gulf South Conference. Playing
at left field, Hand batted .330 for the season with 14 home runs
and a team-high 45 runs scored. She set three individual school
records on the year. On 4-5, she scored her 83rd run of her
career, breaking Charlotte Jordan’s school record of 82 set from
1986-88. She finished the season with 45 runs, breaking her own
record for most runs in a season, which was 37 set in 2004. After
entering the season tied for the career lead in home runs at 13,
She was able to own the record herself by upping her career mark
to 27. She finished the season with 61 hits, five doubles, a
triple, 40 RBI, a .595 slugging percentage and a 13-for-17 stolen
base ratio. Her 18 multiple-hit games on the year was also tied
for the team best.
UNA 2004:
Started all 52 games for the Lions. She was second on the team in
batting average with a .303 mark after going 53-for-175 at the
plate. She led the team with 10 home runs - setting a school
single-season record - and also posted a team-high .526 slugging
percentage. She added team-high performances in runs scored (37),
total bases (92) and multiple-hit games (15) and was second on the
team with nine doubles. She was named second-team All-Gulf South
Conference. She opened the season with a 3-for-5 performance
against Clark Atlanta. She had a two-home run showing on 4-10 on
the road against West Georgia. She ended the season on a
three-game hitting streak.
UNA 2003:
Hand played in 41 games with 40 starts as a freshman. She started
two games as designated hitter, 20 in right field and 18 at
shortstop. She finished second on the team in batting average at
.267, going 35-for-131 at the plate. She was second on the team
with 20 runs scored and added nine doubles, two triples and three
home runs. She drove in nine runs, walked three times, stole two
bases in three attempts and had an .891 fielding percentage. Her
longest hitting streak was six games. She also had seven
multiple-hit games.
HIGH
SCHOOL: Pitched and played outfield at Palo Verde High
School under coach Jim Inghram. She helped lead the Lady Yellow
Jackets to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs in 2002 and
Palo Verde Valley Times Team of the Year in 2002. She was named
All-Imperial Valley League in 2001 and 2002, second-team All-CIF
San Diego Section in 2002, honorable mention All-Riverside County
and second-team Union Tribune San Diego Section.

Full name is Krystal Lee Hand. Born September 10, 1984. She is the
daughter of Bobby and Ruthie Hand and has one brother who played
baseball at UNA. Majoring in elementary education at UNA. |
