NICOLE
MARTINEZ
First Base; 5-9, Senior
Muscle Shoals, Alabama
UNA 2005: Martinez played and
started 55 games for the Lions in 2005. She batted .282 on the
year with 46 hits in 163 at-bats. She was one of four players to
record double digits in doubles with 11 for the season. She also
had five home runs and 31 RBI. Went 3-for-3 on two occasions
during the season, helping the Lions to wins over West Alabama
(3-19) and
Christian Brothers (4-20).
JUNIOR
COLLEGE: Martinez played for two years at Wallace State
Community College for coach Jayne Clem. She recorded the team's
highest batting average and was a two-time state all- tournament
team selection. She was on the Wallace state championship team as
a freshman and state runner-up team the next season. She was also
an all-state, all-region and all-tournament player on the Lions'
volleyball team for two years.
HIGH
SCHOOL: She played for UNA Athletic Hall of Famer
Brenda Mayes-Harris at Muscle Shoals High School. She was a
pitcher and an outfielder for the Class 5A Trojans.
She lettered four years and led the team to a sub-state appearance
in the state tournament her junior season. She was named the Class
5A Player of the Year as a senior and also earned several team
awards, including best pitcher award, team captain and team
offense award. She also lettered in volleyball for the Trojans.
PERSONAL:
Full name is Nicole Marie Martinez. Born January 27, 1984. She is
the daughter of Mike and Debi Martinez and has one brother,
Michael, and one sister, Rochelle. Majoring in elementary
education at UNA. |
