UNA 2006: Bates
played in 56 games for the Lions last season, spending
most of the time as the team's designated player and
earning Second Team, All-Gulf South Conference honors.
After starting 55 games, she went 64-for-171 at the
plate for a .374 batting average. She also added 14
doubles, two triples, four home runs and 52 RBI. She had
19 multiple-hit games on the year, including a 4-for-4
performance on Mar. 14 against Kentucky State, and a
pair of 3-for-3 showings during a four-game series at
West Georgia to close the regular season. Her 52 RBI
tied her with teammate Jessica Liddy for most in a
season at UNA.
UNA 2005: Saw action in 39 games in 2005,
batting .202 for the year. She had three home runs with
six doubles and four RBI. She had six multiple-hit
games, including back-to-back two-hit showings during a
two- game sweep over No. 7 UAH on April 5.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Austin High School
for coach Butch Wright. She played in the outfield for
the Class 6A Black Bears and was an all-area selection
five straight years from 2000-04. Her senior season, she
hit .396 with 11 triples, 29 RBI's and 50 runs. She also
lettered in basketball and volleyball.
PERSONAL: Her full name is Lindsey Rae
Bates. She was born on November 11, 1985. She is the
daughter of Mike and Rhonda Bates and has one sister,
Laurie, a UNA graduate. Majoring in elementary education
at UNA. |
