UNA 2006: Niesel made a team-high 31 appearances for the Lions as a true freshman in 2006. She produced a 13-6 record with a 2.18 earned run average in 141 innings of work. She had 17 starts on the year with five shutouts and four saves. She was also second on the team after striking out 88 batters. She pitched two no- hitters on the year, getting a 12-strikeout performance against Clark Atlanta on Mar. 1, and a nine-strikeout showing on May 12 in the NCAA Division II Tournament against Kentucky State.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped for coach Bryan Baucom at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. She helped lead the Raiders to a No. 11 national ranking in 2004 and back-to-back state championships in 2002-03. She received all-county honors as a sophomore, junior and senior, and was a second-team, all-state selection her junior year. In 2005, she represented Broward County as an all-star.

PERSONAL: Her full name is Megan Marie Niesel. She was born on September 18, 1986. She is the daughter of Rudy and Laurajean Niesel and has one brother, Christopher and one sister, Lee Ann. Majoring in education at UNA.
