UNA 2007: Whitlow was one of four players to
start all 53 games for the Lions last season. Was fourth
on the team with a .297 batting average after going
47-for-158 at the plate. She recorded eight doubles, a
triple, two homeruns and 22 RBI on the season. She
scored 25 times and posted a .376 on-base percentage.
She had 13 multiple-hit games and seven multiple-RBI
games on the year. She had a pair of three-hit outings,
including a 3-for-4, two-RBI showing during an 8-0 win
over Northern Kentucky on Feb. 23 and a 3-for-3
performance with an RBI on April 28 against West
Florida.
UNA 2006: Played and started in all 60
games as a true freshman for the Lions in 2006. She
batted .243 on the year with 41 hits, 24 runs scored and
13 RBI. She added four doubles on the year and had a
.947 fielding percentage while starting at second base.
Defensively, she added 149 putouts and 102 assists, both
third on the team. She went 2-for-3 with a season- high
three RBI on Mar. 19 against GSC foe Lincoln Memorial.
She added a 3-for-4 showing on Mar. 25, where she also
scored a run against instate rival West Alabama.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for coach Shane
Alexander at Hartselle High School, where the Tigers won
consecutive Class 5A state championships in 2002-03. As
a junior she was named first-team all-state and played
in the North/South All-Star Game. She was a second-team
all-state selection in 2005. Also lettered in basketball
and volleyball for the Tigers.
PERSONAL: Full name is Sarah Elizabeth
Whitlow. Born on September 7, 1986. She is the daughter
of Jeff Whitlow and Sally Fentress and has one brother,
Logan. Majoring in chemistry at UNA. |
