FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama softball team placed four players on the 2007 All-Gulf South Conference team. Outfielders Lindsey Greene and Lindsey Bates each got a first-team nod, while seniors Stephanie Glienke and Jessica Liddy earned second-team honors.

The all-conference selection for Greene is the third of her career. The junior from Decatur was a second-team selection the last two seasons, earning GSC East Freshman-of-the-Year honors in 2005. This season, she led the team with a .393 batting average. She started all 53 games for the Lions, getting a team-high 70 hits and 45 runs scored, and adding 10 doubles, two triples and 26 RBI.

Bates, a second-team selection in 2006, was second on the team with a .364 batting average. She led the team in doubles with 15 and tied for the team lead with 35 RBI. The junior from Decatur also had 27 runs scored, 59 hits and two home runs.

Glienke earns second-team honors for the second straight season after wrapping up a 12-6 season on the mound. The senior from Houston, Texas, led the UNA pitching staff with a 1.95 earned run average. She also racked up a team-high 84 strikeouts in 21 appearances.

Liddy wraps up her career at UNA with her fourth straight all-conference selection, becoming the first player in the history of the program to do so. After earning three first-team honors, she was named to the second team after playing in 52 games this season. The Jupiter, Fla., native hits .316 for the season with 48 hits and 12 doubles. Her 35 RBI and five home runs also lead the team.
