DECATUR
– The University of North Alabama softball
team committed three errors and allowed five
unearned runs during an 8-0 loss to Delta
State in the first game of the Gulf South
Conference Crossover Thursday evening at
Decatur’s Wilson Morgan Park.
UNA managed
just two hits of its own and left three
runners on base in the five-inning game,
suffering its first run-rule defeat since
early in the 2005 season. Stephanie Glienke
(10-5) took the loss on the mound after
pitching the game’s first 2.2 innings. She
gave up seven hits and six runs, of which
only two were earned.
Edie Oliver
improved to 6-2 on the year for DSU. Her
two-hit shutout represented the second
victory over the Lions this season. Lindsey
Greene (single) and Sarah Whitlow (triple)
recorded the only hits on the night for the
Lions.
The loss drops
UNA’s record to 27-14 on the year with an
8-4 mark in GSC play. The Lady Statesmen
improve to 32-21, 12-8 for the season.
UNA will play a
pair of games at the Crossover on Friday.
The Lions will take on Henderson State at 2
p.m. before facing Ouachita Baptist at 4.
