DECATUR – The University of North Alabama softball team committed three errors and allowed five unearned runs during an 8-0 loss to Delta State in the first game of the Gulf South Conference Crossover Thursday evening at Decatur’s Wilson Morgan Park.

UNA managed just two hits of its own and left three runners on base in the five-inning game, suffering its first run-rule defeat since early in the 2005 season. Stephanie Glienke (10-5) took the loss on the mound after pitching the game’s first 2.2 innings. She gave up seven hits and six runs, of which only two were earned.

Edie Oliver improved to 6-2 on the year for DSU. Her two-hit shutout represented the second victory over the Lions this season. Lindsey Greene (single) and Sarah Whitlow (triple) recorded the only hits on the night for the Lions.

The loss drops UNA’s record to 27-14 on the year with an 8-4 mark in GSC play. The Lady Statesmen improve to 32-21, 12-8 for the season.

UNA will play a pair of games at the Crossover on Friday. The Lions will take on Henderson State at 2 p.m. before facing Ouachita Baptist at 4.
