– Officials with the Gulf South
Conference have awarded North Alabama’s
Jessica Liddy and Sabrina Roberts as the
league’s East Division Player and Pitcher of
the Week. The two combined to help the Lions
go 5-1 on the week, giving the team its best
start in school history at 14-2 overall.
Liddy hit .529 on the week, mashing nine
hits during the six-game run.
The senior from Jupiter, Fla., also hit for
power, collecting four extra-base hits,
including a grand slam in a 15-5 win over
Bellarmine.
In a doubleheader split against No. 16
Barry, Liddy hit .400 while accounting for
two of UNA's six runs.
Roberts picked up two wins to move to 5-0 on
year from the circle. The junior from
Hartselle pitched five innings with two
strikeouts to pick up an 8-0 victory over
Northern Kentucky. In her second outing of
the week, she pitched a complete game
shutout to defeat Barry 1-0. In that game,
Roberts allowed only six hits while striking
out three to help UNA capture its 14th win
of the season.
