LIONS SET TO PLAY ROAD GAMES AT WEST
GEORGIA, WEST ALABAMA
The University
of North Alabama softball team will
officially begin its quest to capture the
2007 Gulf South Conference championship this
weekend with a pair of road double-headers
against West Georgia and West Alabama.
UNA will take a
15-7 record into GSC play after dropping its
last four contests to schools from the
Sunshine State Conference. The Lions started
the season by winning their first six games,
then held a 14-2 record with both losses
coming at the hands of ranked opponents.
Since then,
however, the team has struggled offensively
and has won only one of its last six
outings.
UNA will take
on West Georgia Saturday at 2 p.m. CST. The
Lions took 4-of-5 games from UWG last
season, winning three times in Carrollton,
Ga., and once in an elimination game of the
GSC tournament in Southaven, Miss.
The Lions will
play two games at West Alabama Sunday
beginning at 1 p.m. UNA has an 11-game
winning streak against the Tigers dating
back to the 2002 season. Last year, the
Lions swept both double-headers and home and
away, outscoring UWA 39-15 in four games.
