– Officials with the Gulf South Conference
named North Alabama outfielder Lindsey Bates
as the East Division’s Player of the Week on
Thursday.
The 5-8 senior
from Decatur hit .583 on the week as the
Lion softball team went 2-2.
Bates started
the week by going 1-for-3 at the plate and
scoring a run against Lewis. The right
fielder collected at least two hits in each
of the next three games, going 2-for-3
against Missouri Western, 2-for-2 against
Truman State and 2-for-3 against No.
1-ranked Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
For the week,
she totaled seven hits, six RBI and two home
runs. She posted a slugging percentage of
1.167 and a .583 on-base percentage.
