BIRMINGHAM
– For the first time this season and second
time in her career, North Alabama
centerfielder Lindsey Greene has been named
the Gulf South Conference East Division
Player of the Week. The 5-6 senior had a
solid week for the Lions, recording a .600
batting average over UNA’s four games.
Greene was
9-for-15 at the plate, and scored four runs
as the Lions went 2-2 for the week with
series splits against West Florida and
Valdosta State. In a 5-4 win over the
12th-ranked Blazers, she went a perfect
4-for-4 in the batter's box, smashing two
doubles and while being personally
responsible for every UNA run. The Decatur
native had at least two hits in three out of
her four contests.
Greene also won
the weekly honor on March 20 of last season
and also has the 2006 GSC East Freshman of
the Year award to her credit.
