
Assistant Coach
Casey Bourgoyne
After three
straight winning seasons with the Lions,
Casey Bourgoyne begins her fourth season as
assistant softball coach at North Alabama.
Following a
two-year stint as a graduate assistant coach
at Delta State, Bourgoyne's impact was
immediately felt during her first year on
the Lions' coaching staff. UNA went 36-20 in
2005 and advanced to the Gulf South
Conference tournament for the first time
since the 2000 season. The team broke or
tied 15 school records and produced the best
season in the program's history.
In 2006,
Bourgoyne helped the Lions continue to
improve as the team went 40-20, returned to
the GSC tourney and advanced to the NCAA
Division II tournament for the first time
ever. The team broke or tied 24 school
records and finished off its best two-year
run in school history. UNA went 32-21 in
2007, falling short of the conference
tournament on the final day of the regular
season.
While playing
shortstop at Delta State from 1999-2002,
Bourgoyne set the Lady Statesmen's all-time
record for career at-bats with 591. She is
also fourth with 170 career hits, fifth in
career RBI with 77, second in career home
runs with nine, second with 113 career runs
scored, and first all-time in career walks.
Bourgoyne set
the school record for assists in a single
season with 180 and also holds the GSC
record in the category.
As a graduate
assistant, Bourgoyne's main duties included
working with infielders and hitters. Her
undergraduate degree is in health, &
physical education and she has a Master’s
degree of education in physical education.
Bourgoyne is a native of Walker, Louisiana.
She is the daughter of Cliff and Rena
Bourgoyne and has two brothers, Derek and
Heath.
Graduate Assistant Coach
Joanna Hynde
Joanna Hynde is
in her second season as graduate assistant
coach for the Lions. She is working towards
her Master’s degree in health promotion and
human performance.
Hynde comes to
UNA from the University of West Alabama,
where she was a 2006 graduate with a degree
in physical education with an emphasis in
exercise science. She was a member of the
Tigers' softball program under head coach
Janet Montgomery where she started 96-of-98
games during her two-year career.
Prior to
attending UWA, Hynde played for coach
Michelle Krassinger at Okaloosa-Walton
Community College, where she led the Raiders
to a third-place finish in the conference
and showing in the state tournament as well.
She was named Second Team All-Conference as
a true freshman in 2003 and helped lead the
team to a berth in the 2004 NJCAA Region 8
Tournament.
In High school,
Hynde prepped for coach Leigh Anne McPherson
at Daphne High School, where she was tabbed
all-county for the Trojans. She was also
named the MVP of the county tournament and
the Kiwanis Club Player of the Month. She
also lettered in volleyball, where she was
an all-county selection.
Hynde is a
native of Daphne, Ala., She was born on July
24, 1983 and is the daughter of Bobby and
Jackie Hynde. She has one brother, Chris,
and one sister, Danielle.
