PRESEL NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH AT UNA

FLORENCE, Ala.,
– University of North Alabama athletic director Joel Erdmann has announced the hiring of Dan Presel as assistant women’s basketball coach.

Presel will rejoin current Lions head coach Terry Fowler, who took over head coaching duties in March. The two previously coached together at Spring Hill College, where Presel spent a total of six seasons.

Before coming to UNA, Presel spent the 2005-06 season as assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, where the Lady Mocs put together the nation’s longest winning streak at
26 consecutive games.

“I think it will be an easy transition for Dan to come in to our system here at UNA,” said Fowler. “We have worked well together in the past. He is a great recruiter and he already knows what kind of players I like.”

Aside from recruiting, Presel will also handle strength and conditioning, as well as specific floor work for the guards.

“Working and developing players is his specialty,” Fowler added. “I am excited to be working with him again. He will be a great benefit to our program.”

Presel was a pitcher on the Spring Hill baseball team from 1996-99. He received his Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1999. He and his wife the former Jill Mathias, who played for the Lady Badgers from 1996-2000 have a one daughter, Rian.
