UNA MEN, WOMEN REBOUND FROM OPENING-ROUND
LOSSES
ARKADELPHIA, Ark.,
– The University of North Alabama men’s and
women’s tennis teams each responded from an
opening-round defeat at the 2007 Gulf South
Conference Tennis Championships to post
solid victories in the consolation
semi-final round Saturday afternoon in
Arkadelphia, Ark.
Both teams
entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed in
the East Division. The UNA men rebounded
from a hard-fought 5-3 loss to the West
Division’s second-seeded Delta State to
score an impressive 5-0 win over
fourth-seeded Christian Brothers on the
campus of Ouachita Baptist.
The women’s
team came up on the short end of a 6-1
decision to the West’s second-seeded Harding
before knocking off No. 4 seed Ouachita
Baptist 5-3.
Both teams will
await a possible invitation to the NCAA
Division II tournament. At-large bids for
the regional round of the tournament will be
released on April 25.
