MONTEVALLO –
The University of North Alabama women’s tennis
team regained a winning record in overall and
Gulf South Conference play Monday with an 8-1
victory over Montevallo. The win gives the Lions
an 8-7 record with a 3-2 mark in GSC play.
It was the second
win of the season over UM after UNA defeated the
Falcons 6-3 on Feb. 3 in a non-conference match.
The Lions were able to sweep doubles play and
post a 5-1 mark in singles competition.
The team of Arrie
Moore and Yuliya Zelenskaya improved to 7-2 on
the year with their 8-4 victory a the No. 2
spot. The two also posted wins in singles
competition along with Mallory Waites, Lori
Colby and Courtney Coleman.
UNA will have one
more match before heading to Arkadelphia, Ark.,
for next week’s GSC tournament. The Lions will
face Freed-Hardeman Tuesday at 4 p.m. on the
road.
