UNA MEN’S WOMEN’S TEAMS SPORTING SEVERAL
RANKINGS
The University
of North Alabama’s scheduled tennis matches
against Stillman have been cancelled due to
rain. No makeup date has been set for the
men’s and women’s matches originally set for
April 11 in Tuscaloosa.
The Lions will
return to action on Friday with a road trip
to Freed-Hardeman. UNA is coming off a tough
home loss to FHU last Saturday where both
teams lost by identical 9-0 scores. The
men’s and women’s teams will get a rematch
Friday at 2 p.m.
When UNA takes
the court again, its two teams will sport
several rankings at the national and
regional levels.
The women’s
team has climbed six spots to No. 31 in the
latest FILA National Division II rankings.
The Lions also had a pair of appearances in
the regional rankings at the doubles and
singles level. Yuliya Zilenskaya is the No.
12 player in the South Region, while the
team of Lori Colby and Mallory Waites earned
a No. 10 regional ranking in doubles.
On the men’s
side, UNA remained in the top 40 in the
national poll with a No. 38 ranking. The
doubles team of Bruno Zuleta and Everton
Silva moved up four spots to No. 15 in the
national poll. Zuleta has also recorded a
No. 9 regional ranking.
