-- The University of North Alabama women's
tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at
Division I Alabama-Birmingham in the Lions
season-opener. UNA freshman Phillipa Reakes
of Bath, England picked up the Lions' lone
victory in the match, downing UAB's Gulsah
Esen 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Both the UNA
men and women play at Columbus State on Feb.
2. The Lions' first home tennis match of the
season will be on Feb. 8 when the men host
Christian Brothers at 1 p.m. at the UNA
Tennis Complex.
