  LIONS TO PLAY FOR TITLE ON SATURDAY AGAINST TAMPA
  PENSACOLA, Fla., - For the second straight day, the University of North Alabama volleyball team used a 3-0 sweep to extend its season, this time, to the national championship match. The Lions defeated No. 14 West Texas A&M Friday evening in the semi-finals of the NCAA Division II National Championships at the UWF Field House in Pensacola, Fla.
  LIONS ADVANCE TO FINAL FOUR
  PENSACOLA, Fla., - Kasie Spencer had 15 kills and hit .583 for the match as the sixth-ranked University of North Alabama volleyball swept Ashland to advance to the semi-finals of the NCAA Division II championships Saturday at the UWF Field House in Pensacola, Fla. The 30-25, 32-20, 30-24 victory over the 10th-ranked Eagles was the Lions’ fifth straight over a ranked opponent, and put the team in its third Final Four. It will also be UNA’s second semi-final showing in the last four years.
  VOLLEYBALL TEAM TO TAKE ON ASHLAND AT ELITE EIGHT
  PENSACOLA, Fla., - The University of North Alabama volleyball team will take on Ashland Thursday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division II Championships in Pensacola, Fla.
  AYRES, BELLINGER, STOUT NAMED TO ESPN THE MAGAZINE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
  FLORENCE Three members of the University of North Alabama volleyball team have been recognized for their work in the classroom as well as the court.  Seniors Dee Ayres, Megan Stout and Laura Bellinger were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, making UNA the most-represented school in Division II.
  AVCA HONORS UNA PLAYERS, COACH ON ALL-REGION TEAM
  FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama volleyball team placed three players on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) first team All-South Central Region squad and also produced the region’s coach of the year.

  KIRKSVILLE, Mo., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team got 23 kills from Nilcia Oliveira and 70 assists from Laura Bellinger in a 3-1 victory over Pittsburg State in the first round of the South Central Region Tournament Thursday evening on the campus of Truman State University

  GSC VOLLEYBALL TEAM SWEEPS HARDING TO CAPTURE GSC TITLE
  FLORENCE – North Alabama hit .409 as a team and saved its best effort for the final match of the Gulf South Conference Tournament defeating Harding 3-0 to win the school’s 16th conference title Saturday evening at Flowers Hall.

  FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama was well-represented when the
2006 All-Gulf South Conference volleyball awards were announced Thursday. The Lions had three players receive first-team all-conference honors, two earn second-team nods and also boasted the East Division’s player and coach of the year.

  FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama volleyball team will take a 20-match winning streak into the post-season after knocking off No. 12 Central Missouri 3-0 in the regular-season finale Friday evening at Flowers Hall.

  CARROLLTON, Ga., - The University of North Alabama volleyball team capped off its second straight undefeated season in Gulf South Conference play Tuesday evening with a 3-0 road win at West Georgia.

  VALDOSTA, Ga., – Nilcia Oliveira had 17 kills and hit .484 for the match as the University of North Alabama volleyball team swept fellow Gulf South Conference foe Valdosta State 3-0 Saturday evening on the road.
  LIONS CLINCH GSC EAST WITH SWEEP OVER WEST FLORIDA
  PENSACOLA, Fla., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team wrapped up the Gulf South Conference East Division championship Friday evening with a 3-0 sweep over homestanding West Florida. The 30-24, 30-23, 30-24 victory improved the Lions’ GSC record to 10-0 on the year and designated Flowers Hall as the official site for the 2006 conference tournament.

  ARKADELPHIA, Ark., - Two more victories in the final day of the Henderson State Lady Reddie Classic gave the University of North Alabama volleyball team a 4-0 record at the event and improved the squad’s overall mark to 22-5 on the year.

  FLORENCE, Ala., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team continued its dominating play in Gulf South Conference action Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 home sweep over West Georgia to remain unbeaten in the league’s eastern division.

  BIRMINGHAM, Ala., – For the second time this season and the fifth time in her career, North Alabama’s standout libero Ashley Hill has been named the Gulf South Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week.
  LIONS SWEEP WEST FLORIDA, LEAD GSC EAST
  FLORENCE, Ala., – A 3-0 sweep over West Florida Saturday afternoon gave the University of North Alabama volleyball team sole possession of first place in the Gulf South Conference East Division.
  BELLINGER LEADS VOLLEYBALL TEAM TO SWEEP
  HUNTSVILLE -- Alabama-Huntsville scored three goals in the first 25 minutes of the match and held on for a 3-1 women's soccer victory over North Alabama in the Lions' Gulf South Conference opener. The Lions, now 3-3-1 overall, gave up a goal to Casy Alosi just five and a half minutes into the game. The Chargers then added goals at the 22:46 and 24:57 marks to make it 3-0.
  VOLLEYBALL TEAM OPENS GSC PLAY WITH 3-0 WIN
  FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama volleyball team used a balanced attack Tuesday night to down rival Alabama-Huntsville 3-0 at Flowers Hall and pick up a win in its first Gulf South Conference match of the season.  Led by Laura Bellinger’s third triple-double of the season, UNA had a trio of players reach double digits in kills to pick up the 30-18, 30-23, 30-24 victory. Danielle Palasak led the team in kills with 13, while Nilcia Oliveira added 12 for the Lions (8-5 overall, 1-0 GSC).

  FLORENCE – Officials with the Gulf South Conference have named University of North Alabama outside hitter Danielle Palasak the GSC East Division Offensive Player of the Week.
  VOLLEYBALL TEAM SWEEPS FINAL DAY AT ASHLAND
  ASHLAND, Ohio – After knocking off Indianapolis earlier Saturday, the University of North Alabama volleyball team rallied to defeat Northern Kentucky in the late match and finish the Ashland Invitational with a 3-1 record.
  UNA SWEEPS USI, FALLS TO TOP-RANKED GRAND VALLEY
  ASHLAND, Ohio – A pair of matches for the University of North Alabama volleyball team produced opposite results Friday afternoon at the Ashland Invitational in Ashland, Ohio. The Lions opened play by sweeping Southern Indiana, but were later swept for the first time in 67 matches against No. 1 Grand Valley State.
  LIONS SWEEP CONFERENCE HONORS
  BIRMINGHAM – A pair of University of North Alabama volleyball players received weekly honors from the Gulf South Conference according to league officials on Tuesday. Setter Laura Bellinger and libero Ashley Hill were recognized as the GSC East Division offensive and defensive players of the week in the first conference release of the season.
  VOLLEYBALL TEAM SPLITS FINAL DAY OF UNA CLASSIC
  FLORENCE – After knocking off Albany State earlier in the day, the University of North Alabama Volleyball Team lost a 3-1 decision to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in the final match of the UNA Classic Saturday evening at Flowers Hall. The 30-32, 30-18, 28-30, 26-30 setback was the first loss of the season for the ninth-ranked Lions.
  LIONS OPEN CLASSIC BY WINNING TWICE
  FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama Volleyball Team opened the
2006 season with a pair of sweeps Friday evening at Flowers Hall.
Playing in the opening day of the UNA Classic, the ninth-ranked Lions defeated Texas Permian Basin and Arkansas-Monticello to begin the year 2-0 and extend an impressive home winning streak.
  LIONS OPEN SEASON FRIDAY IN UNA CLASSIC
  FLORENCE – Six volleyball teams will be in action this weekend at Flowers Hall when the University of North Alabama hosts the 2006 UNA Classic. The annual season-opening event will feature 12 matches, beginning Friday at 10 a.m. with Southern Illinois-Edwardsville taking on Albany State.
  LIONS PICKED TO REPEAT
  Head volleyball coaches in the Gulf South Conference have tabbed perennial power North Alabama as the pre-season favorite for the upcoming 2006 season.  The Lions edged West Florida 33-32 in the East Division and were also chosen to win the overall title with seven votes, followed by Harding’s five and West Florida’s two.
