PALASAK NETS DOUBLE-DOUBLE AGAINST WOLVES
FLORENCE, Ala., – The University of North Alabama
volleyball team continued its dominating play in Gulf South
Conference action Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 home sweep over West
Georgia to remain unbeaten in the league’s eastern division.
With the 30-16, 30-11, 30-16 win, the Lions ran their overall
winning streak to seven matches, which also includes 21 consecutive
games, and improved to 14-5 overall with a 6-0 record in GSC play.
Against the Wolves, Danielle Palasak led the team with a match-high
17 kills. The junior outside hitter from Garden City, Mich., also
hit .406 on the day and added 10 digs and three service aces to
round out a solid performance.
The Lions jumped out to early leads in each of the three games,
going ahead 7-0 in the first two contests before taking a 15-5 lead
in the final game. Kasie Spencer reached double digits in kills with
10, while Ashley Hill led the team in digs with 14 on the day.
As a team, UNA went over the .400 mark in hitting percentage for the
third time this season, finishing the match with a .404 mark. Four
players hit over .400, including Spencer’s .667 showing.
The Lions will host West Alabama Tuesday, Oct. 3, in the final
contest of their five-match home stand. The GSC match is set for 7
p.m. at Flowers Hall.
