For the second time this season and the fifth time in her career,
North Alabama’s standout libero Ashley Hill has been named the Gulf
South Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Hill, a 5-5 senior from Bellevue, Ohio, headlined a UNA defense that
helped the team sweep two matches in GSC play last week. She
averaged 6.50 digs per game as the Lions knocked off Valdosta State
(3-0 on Sept.
22) and West Florida (3-0 on Sept. 23) to take over sole possession
in the GSC East Division.
Against the Argonauts, she posted a season-high 29 digs, the most
this year in the GSC in a three-game match. She currently ranks
third in the conference in digs per match with 5.23.
Hill also won the defensive award on Aug. 29 and was also honored
three consecutive times from Oct. 18 through No. 1 in 2005.
