JUNIOR
NAMED GSC EAST DIVISION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
FLORENCE – Officials with the Gulf South Conference have
named University of North Alabama outside hitter Danielle Palasak
the GSC East Division Offensive Player of the Week. The junior from
Garden City, Mich., helped lead the Lions to a 3-1 record over the
weekend at the Ashland Invitational in Ashland, Ohio.
The conference honor is the third for UNA this season and marks the
second consecutive week a Lion player received a GSC weekly award.
Last week, setter Laura Bellinger and libero Ashley Hill was named
the GSC offensive and defensive player of the week.
In four matches this week, Palasak averaged 4.86 kills and 2.43 digs
per game as UNA knocked off Southern Indiana, Indianapolis and
Northern Kentucky while coming up short against No. 1 Grand Valley
State. She began the tourney with a double-double, including 16
kills and 10 digs against USI. She then set a new career-high in
kills with 21 against Indianapolis, and also recorded a career-best
.429 hitting percentage
(17 kills, 35 attacks, two errors) during the Lions’ win over NKU.
UNA is currently 6-2 on the season and will play in the Washburn
Lady Blues Classic Sept. 8-9 in Topeka, Kan.
