LIONS CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY WITH SWEEP
FLORENCE – The University of
North Alabama volleyball team closed out the home portion of its
schedule Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep over Valdosta State.
The 30-15,
30-12, 30-21 victory gives the Lions an 18-14 overall record with an
8-3 mark in Gulf South Conference play. VSU falls to 9-23, 0-10 on
the year.
Playing in her
final game at Flowers Hall, senior Danielle Palasak got 13 kills and
hit .367 to lead UNA. The outside hitter from Garden City, Mich.,
added eight digs and a service ace as the Lions held on to second
place in the GSC East Division.
Carly Lacey,
the only other senior on the Lion roster, also had a solid day with
three kills, six digs and 12 assists.
As a team, UNA
held Valdosta to a .032 hitting percentage and took advantage of
several Blazer errors. The Lions had 10 service aces on the day and
hit .375 for the match. VSU had 22 attack errors, seven service
errors and 10 reception errors.
The Lions will
travel to Carrollton, Ga., to complete the GSC play in the regular
season next week. UNA will face West Georgia on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.
EST.
