SEARCY, Ark.,
– Danielle Palasak had 15 kills and 16 digs to lead the University of North Alabama volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Arkansas Tech in the first round of the Gulf South Conference tournament Friday afternoon in Searcy, Ark.

The senior from Garden City, Mich., was one of three UNA players to record double-digit kill totals as the Lions posted a 30-21, 30-22, 30-24 win at Rhodes Field House on the campus of Harding University. Whitney Sanders and Kelly Pratt added 10 kills each to lead the Lions.

In each of the three contests, UNA jumped out to early leads and held off late ATU rallies. A strong defensive effort paved the way for the Lions, which held Arkansas Tech to a .101 hitting percentage.

UNA’s 67 digs was a season-high for a three-game match. Jessica Hansen led the way with 18, while Palasak and Pratt completed double-double performances with 16 and 13 digs respectively.

With the win, the Lions (20-15) advance to play West Georgia Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Wolves knocked off the West Division’s top seed and host Harding.
