BIRMINGHAM
– The University of North Alabama volleyball team swept the weekly
conference awards this week by winning GSC East Division Offensive
and Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors. Senior outside hitter
Danielle Palasak and junior defensive specialists Jessica Hansen
each took home the conference hardware, both for the second time
this season.
Palasak, who
won the same award last week, posted at least 20 kills in all three
matches for the Lions last week. The Garden City, Mich., native now
has nine 20-plus kill performances on the year. She recorded a .439
hitting percentage and 20 kills against Barry to lead UNA to a 3-0
sweep and a 2-1 record for the weekend.
Hansen, who
took home the defensive honor on Aug. 28, brings home the award for
the third time in her career. The libero from Council Bluffs, Iowa
had a monster week by averaging 7.82 digs per game. Against GSC West
Division power Harding, she had a career-high 38 digs en route to a
3-1 win. |
