– The University of North
Alabama volleyball team got off
to a quick start and never
looked back during a 3-0 sweep
over Southern Arkansas Saturday
afternoon at Flowers Hall. The
Lions hit .500 as a team in the
opening set and went on to post
a 25-13, 25-14, 25-19 victory to
improve to 6-8 on the year.
Sarah Roberts had 12 kills and
hit .647 individually to lead
UNA. Alison Jacobs added eight
kills, 27 assists and a
match-high nine digs on the day.
The Lions finished with a
season-best .382 team hitting
percentage.
Defensively, the Lions had eight
players record at least two digs
in the match. Roberts, Shae
Watkins and Brigid O’Brien added
five digs each.
Maggie Glover led the Muleriders
(1-17) with six kills.
North Alabama will now turn its
attention to Gulf South
Conference play, which begins
next week. The Lions will travel
to Carrollton, Ga., on Tuesday
to face West Georgia in the GSC
opener for both teams. Match
time is set for 6 p.m. CST.
