EMORY DOWNS UNA VOLLEYBALL TEAM TO AVENGE EARLY-SEASON LOSS

FLORENCE – Division III’s third-ranked Emory was able to avenge an early-season home loss to North Alabama on Monday by defeating the Lions 3-1 at Flowers Hall. Four players reached double digits in kills as the Eagles improved to 21-4 on the season and earned a split in the season series. With the loss, UNA falls to 12-11 overall.

The Lions also had four players reached double figures in kills and were able to record a .228 team hitting percentage. Setter Alison Jacobs led the way with 14 kills to go along with her 39 assists on the night. Cara Gregg and Sarah Roberts added 13 kills each while Ari Smith turned in 12 for the match.

Defensively, Lauren Green had 15 digs with Brigid O’Brien netting 13 and Kristin Zull getting 12 for UNA.

North Alabama will travel to Tampa, Fla., over the weekend for three regional matches at the Tampa Spartans Classic. The Lions will take on Florida Southern Friday at 4:15 p.m. before facing Eckerd and host Tampa the following day.
