ROBERTS LEADS LIONS TO SWEEP OVER CHARGERS

HUNTSVILLE – Sarah Roberts had a match-high 13 kills to lead the University of North Alabama volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Alabama-Huntsville Tuesday evening at Spragins Hall on the UAH campus. The 25-21, 25-21, 25-17 victory gives the Lions 16-13 overall record with a 5-3 showing in Gulf South Conference play. With the loss, UAH falls to 7-25, 1-7 on the season.

The win also marked the 25th consecutive victory for the Lions over UAH dating back to the 1999 season. UNA head coach Stephanie Radecki has never lost to the instate rival, posting a perfect 13-0 record in her six seasons.

For Roberts, Tuesday’s showing was the 26th time the middle hitter has reached double digits in kills this season. The junior from Maryville, Tenn., added a
.526 hitting percentage after getting just three errors on 19 attempts. She has now recorded at least 10 kills in the last 18 matches. Christy Golden also added a career-high eight kills for the Lions while setter Alison Jacobs had 28 assists on the night.

Defensively, Kristin Zull and Lauren Greenhill had eight digs each for UNA. The Lady Chargers were led by Jessica Ruple’s eight kills and seven digs.

North Alabama will now prepare to close out the regular season with a pair ofGSC matches this weekend at Flowers Hall. The Lions will host West Alabama Friday at
7 p.m. before taking on West Georgia the following day at 1 p.m. The match against West Alabama has been tabbed as the GSC Match of the Week.
