Box Score vs. Abilene Christian   |   Box Score vs. Nebraska Omaha

OMAHA, Neb., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team found itself on the short end of a pair of losses in the final day of the Nebraska-Omaha 2009 Volleyball Showcase Saturday on the UNO campus. After losing a 3-1 decision to Abilene Christian, the Lions were swept by the host Mavericks to fall to 1-3 on the season.

In the first match against ACU, the Lions won the first set 25-23 before dropping three straight to take the loss.
UNA hit .314 as a team in the opening set, but struggled the rest of the way, including a .057 showing in the third stanza.

UNA had trouble with the Wildcats’ block all match. ACU recorded 12 total team blocks, including 18 block assists and three solo stops. Shawna Hines had two solo blocks and five block assists to go along with her 14 kills.

Sarah Roberts led the way for the Lions with 13 kills while Cara Gregg posted a double-double with 10 kills and
13 digs. Alison Jacobs rounded out the offensive leaders with 41 assists. Defensively, Lauren Greenhill and Brigid O’Brien also reached double digits in digs with 18 and 16 respectively. Greenhill’s total is a career high.

In the nightcap, UNA’s offensive woes continued as the Lions hit just .086 for the match, including a -.029 showing in the final set. The Mavericks had two players reach double-digits in kills during the 25-15, 25-21, 25-
13 victory.

Roberts had 10 kills to lead UNA. She connected on 10-of-20 attempts with only three errors for a .350 hitting percentage. Jacobs had 21 assists while O’Brien recorded 11 digs for the Lions.

North Alabama will return home next weekend to host the 2009 UNA Classic.
