– Members of the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) have
awarded North Alabama setter Alison
Jacobs All-America honors following
her senior season with the Lions.
The Elkhorn, Neb., native becomes
the 12th UNA volleyball
player to received All-America
recognition and adds the award to
her growing list of post-season
accomplishments.
Jacobs has already received first
team All-Gulf South Conference
honors and was named the GSC East
Division Player of the Year. She was
also a first team All-South Region
selection by the AVCA, as well as
Daktronics.
She recorded 1,215 assists for a
9.59 per-set average one the year.
She added 253 kills (1.99 per set),
266 digs (2.09 per set), 44 total
blocks (.35 per set) and 26 service
aces. She was named GSC East Player
of the Week twice and recorded three
triple-doubles this season, with two
against ranked opponents.
UNA middle blocker Sarah Roberts was
also named on the AVCA lists. The
junior from Maryville, Tenn.,
received honorable mention honors
after leading the East Division with
3.64 kills per set. She totaled 462
kills on the year and posted a .283
hitting percentage.
The three-time GSC East Offensive
Player of the Week honoree reached
double digits in kills in 29
matches, and also led the team with
37 service aces. Roberts was also a
first team All-GSC, first team
All-South Region by the AVCA and
second team all-region by Daktronics.
