– For the third consecutive week, the
University of North Alabama volleyball team
has provided a player of the week in the
Gulf South Conference. This week, league
officials have named UNA’s Sarah Roberts as
the East Division’s Offensive Player of the
Week.
Roberts provided on offensive punch for the
Lions as the team went 3-0 on the week,
including a 3-2 win over Division III’s
defending national champion and top-ranked
Emory and a pair of 3-0 sweeps over GSC West
squads Henderson State and Southern
Arkansas.
The junior from Maryville, Tenn., had 43
kills on the week with a .381 hitting
percentage. She also added seven service
aces, 11 blocks and had at least 12 kills in
each match.
Roberts joins Alison Jacobs (Offensive,
Sept. 15) and Brigid O’Brien (Defensive,
Sept. 8) as Lions to win the GSC weekly
award this season. It is the first PotW
award for her career.
