UNA Gets 58-57 Win
FLORENCE
-- North Alabama missed a free throw with six seconds left but
Georgia Southwestern couldn't get off a shot before the buzzer as
the Lions held on for a 58-57 win over the Hurricanes at Flowers
Hall.
UNA, now 5-5 overall, led 29-26
after a turnover filled first half. The Hurricanes led for much of
the final 20 minutes before a UNA rally put the Lions on top by six
down the stretch. Georgia Southwestern chipped away at UNA's lead
and cut it to just one with six seconds left. UNA's Jameica York,
who was 8-for-8 from the free throw line, went to the line but
missed. The Hurricanes moved the ball down the floor but UNA's
defense prevented them from launching a shot before the buzzer.
York led UNA with 15 points. Shay Ashford added 11 and Amber
Rutherford had 10. Sophia Small led three Hurricanes in double
figures with 25.
The Lions improved to 3-0 at home on
the season.
North Alabama plays at Christian
Brothers Saturday.
