CARROLLTON, Ga., –
The North Alabama women’s basketball team shot 62 percent from
three-point range in a key Gulf South Conference road game and
picked up a 55-52 victory over West Georgia Saturday evening in
Carrollton, Ga.
The Lions hit eight of 13 shots from beyond the arc and had seven
players contribute to the scoring. The win was the third straight
for UNA and improves the team’s overall record to 10-10 overall with
a 3-2 mark in GSC play. West Georgia falls to 10-10, 2-3.
UNA trailed by as many as six in the first half, and was behind
24-21 at intermission. The Lions, however, used an 18-7 run in the
first eight minutes of the second half to take a 39-31 lead.
The UNA lead grew to as many as 12 when a three-pointer by Brittany
Godsey made the score 47-35 with 9:24 remaining. The Wolves were
able to cut the lead to a single point in the final minute, but
could never tie the score.
Tandra Inmon led the Lions with 14 points and six rebounds, while
Freshman Elizabeth Rowe added a career-high 11 points on the night.
Jessica Strucher hit 3-of-4 three-point baskets, while Godsey and
Chelsey Malone each knocked down 2-of-3 long-range shots.
The Lions will get a week off before traveling to Huntsville to face
GSC East foe Alabama-Huntsville. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. next
Saturday night at Spragins Hall.
