PENSACOLA, Fla., - Tandra Inmon
scored a career-high 25 points as the University of North Alabama
women’s basketball team picked up a Gulf South Conference road win
with a 71-65 victory over West Florida Saturday afternoon.
Four UNA players reached double figures in scoring as the Lions
completed the season sweep over UWF and improved to 4-3 in GSC play.
The win also evens UNA’s overall record at 11-11, while the
Argonauts fall to 10-12 with a 3-4 mark in the conference.
The Lions never led in the first half and trailed by as many as
eight in the opening 20 minutes of play. After trailing 37-32 at
intermission, UNA used a 13-3 run to start the second half to take
its first lead of the game.
Chelsea Malone came up big for the Lions down the stretch, scoring
seven of her 13 points. Her three-pointer with 1:39 remaining gave
UNA a 64-59 lead. After two Argo layups cut the lead to a single
point, Inmon converted a three-point play with a basket and foul
shot to make the lead 67-63 with 42 seconds on the clock.
UWF got another jumper, but Malone connected of four straight free
throws to make the final score 71-65.
Jameica York added 15 points for the Lions, while Shay Ashford
tossed in
11 on the day.
UNA will continue its GSC road swing with a trip to Valdosta State
on Monday.
