The University of North
Alabama women’s basketball team picked up its second win of the
season Tuesday night at Flowers Hall, topping Christian Brothers
62-52.
UNA held a 21-13 lead after a sloppy
first half that saw both teams shooting less than 27 percent from
the floor.
The Lions offense came on in the
second half as UNA hit six three- pointers over the final 20
minutes, including three from Jessica Strucher.
Amber Rutherford led UNA with 13
points and Jameica York had 10.
Kat Butler led Christian Brothers
with 15, Erin Nigh added 12 and Crystal Shelton 11. UNA shot just
35.7 percent from the floor but held CBU to just 39 percent shooting
and forced 23 turnovers by the Buccaneers.
UNA held a 36-34 rebounding edge
behind eight from Rutherford.
The Lions play at Clark-Atlanta
Friday and play Paine in Atlanta Saturday. UNA won’t return home
until December 8 against Georgia Southwestern.
