CLEVELAND, Miss., – Delta State used a dominating second-half performance to deliver the knock out blow against North Alabama and claim a 70-43 victory Wednesday evening in women’s college basketball action. A 22-2 Lady Statesmen run midway through the second half ended any chances of a comeback for the Lions at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

Amber Rutherford led UNA with 12 points on the night. Chelsey Malone tossed in 11 points as the Lions shot just 21.7 percent from the floor and committed 23 turnovers.

DSU led 37-22 at the half and the Lions hit only four field goals in the final 20 minutes of play. The Lady Statesmen also held a commanding 37-29 rebounding edge.

UNA will travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., on Saturday to face the Lady Reddies of Henderson State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
