INMON RECEIVES SECOND TEAM HONORS
BIRMINGHAM -
North Alabama forward Amber Rutherford has been named the Player of
the Year in the Gulf South Conference East Division.
The sophomore helped the UNA women’s team to its best record in four
seasons, including a berth as a No. 2 seed in the upcoming GSC
tournament. She led the team in scoring and was third in the
conference, averaging 15.2 points per game.
The Hatton native leads the league in free throw percentage. Her 94
percent (133-of-141) free throw percentage is also tops at the
national Division II level. She also ranks in the top five in the
GSC in rebounding (3rd at 9.6 rpg), field goal percentage (5th at
54.1 percent) and offensive rebounds (2nd at 3.52 rpg).
She received East Division player-of-the-week honors a league-high
three times on Jan. 17, Feb. 14 and Feb. 21.
The Lions were also represented on the GSC second team list with the
inclusion of Tanda Inmon. The junior from West Memphis, Ark., was
second on the team in scoring with an 11.4 points-per-game average.
She also averaged 4.8 rebounds per contest. She received
player-of-the-week honors on Feb. 7.
