BIRMINGHAM – For the
second straight week, officials with the Gulf South Conference have
named North Alabama forward Amber Rutherford as the East Division’s
Player of the Week. With the honor, the sophomore now has a
league-high three honors on the season after receiving the
recognition on Jan. 17 and Feb.
14.
For the week Rutherford played huge, posting a double-double in a
key division win against West Georgia. This win ensured the Lions a
trip to the upcoming GSC Tournament, and keeps them in the running
for a No. 2 seed in the event.
Rutherford was a perfect 16-for-16 from the free throw line,
totaling 22 points in the 52-49 win. This was her third
double-double in GSC play and fifth overall this year. |
