TUSCALOOSA – The University of North Alabama women’s
basketball team dropped its second straight game Wednesday evening
and third in the last four contests, coming up on the short end of a
72-53 decision at Stillman College. The loss
drops the team’s record to 8-10 on the season while Stillman (3-9)
won for just the third time this year.
Poor shooting again plagued the Lions as the team shot just 36
percent from the floor, including a 4-for-20 mark from three-point
range. Amber Rutherford led all scorers with 28 points for UNA, but
the team was out-rebounded 39-30 and was
outscored 42-26 in the second half.
UNA will return to Gulf South Conference action Saturday with a home
showdown against Alabama-Huntsville. Tip-off time is set for 1 p.m.
at Flowers Hall.
